How Rotate PDF works
Sideways pages usually come from a scanner or a phone camera, and they are irritating precisely because the fix is trivial. This tool makes the fix visible: every page is rendered as a thumbnail, and the preview turns as you rotate so you can confirm the result before saving.
The bulk buttons follow a simple rule. With nothing selected they apply to the entire document, which is what you want when a whole scan came out landscape. Select some pages first and the label changes to say how many are selected, and the same buttons then apply only to those — useful when a document mixes portrait text pages with landscape tables.
Rotations accumulate in 90° steps and are always relative to the angle the page already carried, so a page that was already rotated in the original file ends up where you expect. Reset rotation clears every pending turn without reloading the document.
Saving copies the pages into a new document and writes the final angle into each one. Nothing is re-rendered, so text stays selectable and image quality is untouched — only the page orientation metadata changes.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser — the file is read from disk by the page and never transmitted. It keeps working even if you disconnect after the page has loaded.
How do I rotate only some pages?
Click the thumbnails of the pages you want first. The bulk buttons then say "Rotate N selected" and apply only to those. With nothing selected, the buttons apply to the whole document. You can also rotate one page at a time using the button on its own thumbnail.
Is the page content re-rendered?
No, and that is the point. Rotation is recorded as the page angle rather than by redrawing pixels, so text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded and images keep their original quality. The file size barely changes.
The page was already rotated in the original — what happens?
Your turn is added to the angle the page already had, so the thumbnail preview and the saved result agree. A page saved at 90° that you turn another 90° ends up at 180°.
Why is the Save button disabled?
Nothing has been rotated yet. The tool will not produce a copy identical to your input, so the button stays disabled until at least one page has an actual turn applied.
Can I use a password-protected PDF?
A PDF that merely declares encryption with an empty owner password usually opens fine. One that genuinely requires a password to be read cannot be processed, and the tool says so instead of failing silently — remove the protection first, then come back.
