How to use Extract Pages
- Add a PDF and let the page thumbnails render.
- Click the pages you want to keep, or use the All, Odd and Even shortcuts.
- You can also type a selection such as 1,3,5-9 and press Apply.
- Choose whether to merge the selection into one PDF or get one file per page.
- Press Extract pages — a single PDF downloads directly, and separate pages arrive as a ZIP.
How Extract Pages works
Extract Pages is the opposite of removing them: instead of saying what to throw away, you say what to keep. That is the easier way round when you want three pages out of eighty.
Selection works four ways, and they combine. Click thumbnails directly, use the All, Odd or Even shortcuts, type a range like 1,3,5-9, or start from a shortcut and then click to fine-tune. Pages are always written out in ascending page order regardless of the order you clicked them.
The merge checkbox decides the shape of the output. Leave it on and every selected page lands in one new PDF. Turn it off and each page becomes its own document, zero-padded and numbered after the original file name, delivered together as a single ZIP so your browser only has to handle one download.
Either way the pages are copied, not re-rendered, so quality is identical to the source.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser — the file is read from disk by the page and never transmitted. It keeps working even if you disconnect after the page has loaded.
What is the difference between this and Split PDF?
Extract Pages is for picking specific pages out of one document. Split PDF is for dividing a document systematically — into custom ranges, into equal chunks of N pages, or into parts that each stay under a file-size limit. If you know the page numbers you want, use this tool; if you want a rule applied across the whole document, use Split PDF.
Do the extracted pages keep their original order?
Yes. The selection is sorted into ascending page order before the new document is built, so clicking page 9 before page 4 still gives you 4 then 9. If you need a custom order, use Organize PDF, which lets you drag pages into any sequence.
Why do separate pages come as a ZIP?
Browsers throttle or block multiple downloads triggered in quick succession, so extracting twenty pages as twenty downloads is unreliable. Bundling them into one archive is a single, predictable download. The files inside are named after your original with a zero-padded page number, so they sort correctly.
Can I extract pages from several PDFs at once?
Not in one pass — this tool works on one document at a time so the thumbnails always match the file in front of you. To combine pages from several PDFs, extract from each in turn and then join the results with Merge PDF.
Can I use a password-protected PDF?
A PDF that merely declares encryption with an empty owner password usually opens fine. One that genuinely requires a password to be read cannot be processed, and the tool says so instead of failing silently — remove the protection first, then come back.
