How to use Remove Pages
- Add a PDF. Every page is rendered as a thumbnail so you can see what you are deleting.
- Click the pages you want gone — they are marked in red and the counter shows how many will remain.
- For long documents, type a selection such as 2,5-9 in the box and press Apply instead of clicking.
- Press Remove pages to download the trimmed document.
How Remove Pages works
Removing pages is a subtraction problem, and the hard part is being sure you are subtracting the right ones. This tool renders every page as a thumbnail first, so you delete what you can see rather than what you hope page 7 contains.
Marked pages are highlighted and counted live: the footer always states how many are marked and how many will remain. Nothing is applied until you press the button, so you can mark, unmark and reconsider freely.
When you confirm, the kept pages are copied into a brand-new document in their original order. Because the pages are copied rather than re-encoded, text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded and images are untouched — the result is the original document minus the pages you dropped, at exactly the original quality.
One rule is enforced: a PDF must keep at least one page. Mark every page and the tool blocks the export and explains why, rather than producing a file no reader can open.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser — the file is read from disk by the page and never transmitted. It keeps working even if you disconnect after the page has loaded.
Can I type page numbers instead of clicking thumbnails?
Yes. The range box accepts the same syntax as the other page tools — 2,5-9 means page 2 and pages 5 through 9. Press Apply and those pages are marked for you. Anything invalid, such as a backwards range or a page past the end of the document, is rejected with an explanation before anything happens.
What happens if I mark every page?
The export is blocked. A PDF with no pages is not a valid document, so the tool shows a message asking you to unmark at least one page rather than generating a file that will not open.
Does removing pages shrink the file?
Usually, but not proportionally. The pages you keep are copied with the resources they need, and shared resources such as embedded fonts are carried across once. Dropping half the pages of a text document rarely halves its size. If size is the goal, run the result through Compress PDF afterwards.
Is the original file changed?
No. The file on your device is only ever read. The trimmed version is built in memory and handed to you as a new download with "-pages-removed" added to the name, so the original stays exactly where it was.
Can I use a password-protected PDF?
A PDF that merely declares encryption with an empty owner password usually opens fine. One that genuinely requires a password to be read cannot be processed, and the tool says so instead of failing silently — remove the protection first, then come back.
